Dickey’s Barbecue Pit Menu

Well, we didn't have to wait because we stopped in for some takeout BBQ at 11:00 a.m., so waiting wasn't our issue. We only waited for a few minutes for our order to be ready, ribs, a brisket hoagie, jalapeño beans and potato salad. And the staff were helpful, happy and anxious to please, four stars for them. However, once we arrived home and ate the food the star factor went way down. The ribs were fair, no flavor and rather dry, even with the included extra sauce. The beans also had no flavor, even the jalapeño buzz was lacking. The potato salad was very creamy, but just didn't taste like good potato salad should taste, almost like store bought and not made fresh in the restaurant like it should be. The brisket meat in the hoagie was dry and also not much flavor. Being a Texas girl with BBQ sauce running through my veins I was really hoping this place would be good so I could get my BBQ fix close by, but alas no such luck. The search continues.

Such a lost opportunity. Dickies has to be one of my favorite BBQ spots of all time - yet I can't stand this one. How can the franchise be so great and the franchisee be soooo abysmal? Really hard to say but the bottom line is I hate the fact I can't go here anymore. The service is downright atrocious - waiting to order food for 15 minutes with only two people ahead of me? Really? Terrible food after the unnecessary wait? You run out of food frequently? What? Scrap the owner and keep the franchise. I am rooting for this place to turn around!

I get being busy, but we went in at 2pm in the afternoon and everyone was just standing around. We stood there for 10 minutes before they even looked up to say hi. The food was disappointing and my husband and I felt very sick after. We couldn't get the taste out of our mouths, and my stomach turns when someone mentions this place. The weird part is, we've always loved the Arapahoe location - so maybe the food had gone bad or something?? I really waited to reserve judgement, even after the rude comments made by employees on their FB page, but we won't be back.

One word -CHAOS- I've seen better opening weekends. The food order line was non-existent and people had no idea where they were suppose to order from, resulting in a large group of customers just standing around hoping they were in the right area to order. Its called good SIGNAGE!! Also, they had already run out of three types of meat by Sunday afternoon. NOT GOOD Its their opening weekend so I will give it another try in a couple of weeks, hoping that they will learn from this weekend. The food I ordered-Chicken and Spicy Sausage- was good but they give you a small portion. The other main BBQ place in Castle Rock is the Old Western off of Wolfensbarger Rd. which is far superior!

Been here twice. Ran out of mac and cheese both times. The first time was opening weekend and they had also run out of all the meat except for sausage. Extremely slow process, took 20 minutes to get our order of a two meat meal with four people in front of us. The food was delicious and the service was friendly but I don't think we'll be back.

I don't even think this location counts as barbeque. From the poor food preparation, to the high schoolers apparently running the place, it is a disgrace to Castle Rock's awesome selection of restaurants. To top off their streak of poor choices they claimed they would sponsor DC's football meal and ended up charging full price. I will drive to centennial for Dickeys over this location any day.

Now that they're getting into the swing of things, service is much more smooth and the food is still delicious! Of the many times I've been here, I have never ran into an issue with them running out of food. The staff always say hello and are very helpful. If they're finishing up another order, they are quick to let you know that they'll be right with you. So far, I've had the chicken, turkey, jalapeno cheddar sausage, ribs, pulled pork and brisket. They've all been delicious. Great place for kids too - my daughter loves their turkey, mac 'n cheese, green beans, baked beans...and of course...the ice cream! I will continue to come here. Great food & great service!

Have kept giving this place another try and another try hoping that the food would get better. After eating the food 5-6 times, I finally realized today that it's not going to get any better. The Brisket and Pulled Pork were very very dry today. The last time we had the ribs and they reminded us of jerky -- yep -- that dry. And apparently I'm not alone in disliking the food. Look at all the other reviews.

Do not have your teenager work for this location!! They treated my son poorly throughout his employment. They fired him due to missing a meeting and he had to wait for over 1 week to get his final paycheck, even though Colorado law clearly states that final paychecks are to be provided within 24 hours. Manager Brian could care less that both my son and I asked for my son's final paycheck prior to the stores scheduled payday. Food there is good and I would recommend that you eat there. Just don't become an employee!!

It isn't great but it isn't bad either. There fore, it is not a choice of mine when we go out. Portions are small, and I'm not a fan of their side dishes. My dad loves this place, but he's pretty easily satisfied when it comes to bbq. There are much better places to eat in CR.

Now this may not be fair but it is what it is, we just moved here from Austin, Texas where you have world famous Franklin and Salt Lick (not to mention Smitty's, Black's, Kreuz and Chisolm Trail in nearby Lockhart) so we have pretty high standards when it comes to BBQ. However, Dickey's is huge in Dallas so we were fairly confident we'd get some decent fare. We entered Dickey's about 45 minutes before they closed so the fact that they were out of ribs, chicken, both sausage options, and jalapeno beans is not in any way affecting my review of this establishment. In fact, I would be wary if they still had a full selection (a lot of places sell out well before closing anyway). I will first say that the staff is friendly and cheerful which is a huge plus, especially so close to closing time. We purchased the baked beans, brisket, turkey, ham and coleslaw. The highlight of the meal was the baked beans. These are exactly what you'd expect from a seasoned BBQ joint. Deep flavor, sweet and creamy with a hint of smokiness. The spicy BBQ sauce is delicious. I didn't even try the regular. The second best thing we ate was the turkey, it had great smoke flavor and was very tasty, even though it was a bit dry, but again it was the end of the day. From there everything else was very sub-par and disappointing. Shockingly, the brisket was very tough and chewy and the ham was just sad. The slaw tasted like any packaged slaw you can get at a local grocery store, heavy on mayo and sugar. Any righteous Texas BBQ joint has got to nail the brisket, and Dickey's simply missed big time. We will give it another shot so as to not solely judge on one visit so close to closing time so if we are surprised then this review will definitely get updated but so far as GSP would say in his loving French Canadian accent, "I am not impressed with your performance."

This place really satisfies the frequent BBQ cravings!! The atmosphere is fun and we've always been treated like a valued customer. To top it all off there is free ice cream after your meal....enough said! We will be back!

As far as BBQ goes they have that down pat! The sides need some work. I like lots of flavor in my mac n cheese and other sides and these seemed a bit bland. But the BBQ pork is spot on!

I always enjoy eating BBQ at Dickeys. I saw the other reviews about them running out of food items, but have never had this experience myself. I have visited this particular Dickeys four times at different times and they have always had what I was in the mood for, well Turkey and Spicy Sausage. Yeah, I order the same damn thing each time, I know what I like. I always add the macaroni and cheese and green beans with bacon. I have always been greeted as soon as I walk through the door and have received my food quickly. The eating area has plenty of elbow room, two TVs, and is clean. This location is smaller than others, so pick and choose your arrival time carefully. Their food is not cheap, but I have eaten worse BBQ and paid more for it. I will return again and again - keep serving chunks of meat! Oh, they have soft serve as well.

Went in again yesterday around 5:30. I know I said I wouldn't go back, but I wanted to give the place a fair shot. There were maybe 3 people in front of us in line. However, we waited over 25 minutes in line to get 2 plates to go. I cannot for the life of me figure out why the service here seems to broken. Everything is premade except for frying (ie - French fries). It should be a quick process to take your order, chop your meat, scoop out the sides, and pay for your food. I really want to like this place. I love good bbq. I just think that maybe there is a lack of leadership at this location.

The prices are high for the food, its a BBQ place but we end up leaving feeling unsatisfied and feeling like we spent way too much! ughhh.. not worth it

We stopped in for a bite of dinner at someplace we had never eaten before while on vacation in Colorado and left a Dickey's Fan! The food was Awesome and the service Excellent! The free Ice Cream was a pleasant surprise as well! We can't wait to find a Dickey's in the area where we live!

  • Mike C.

Dickey's is pretty darn good! I enjoy walking in and being greeted by the staff. The food was great and the free ice cream...Mmmm...Mmmm....delicious! Yes, there's a lack of seating indoors, and outdoors. The crazy weather here in CO makes it hard to want to sit outdoors, so it'd be nice to just extend it out. To me, customer service is the biggest thing, and these guys & gals are really impressive! Semper Fi!

the quality is average, although i will admit they seem to have either improved their initially long wait times. Grand opening was a disaster but on my most recent visit they seemed to have their act together. Keeping them as a back up to old west (just up the street) for now. They are a little pricy most most bbq places are for some reason so i would consider them inline with the competition

If this restaurant was in the swing of things in March (per reviewer Megan), they swung back out of in May. I have eaten at a couple of Dickey's BBQ's in the Denver area and found them to be a good meal for quick BBQ. With that in mind, I was pleased to see they were opening on the ever crowded Founders Parkway in Castle Rock. We went last week for dinner and was very disappointed. The line was out the door, the staff was not in any particular hurry and didn't seem to realize they should be. I don't mind lines, when the service is reasonable and I understand getting slammed out of the blue. But that didn't appear to be the situation at all. The chopped brisket sandwich was adequate, and the sides were luke warm. I've their sides to be pretty unremarkable when they were hot! There is just too much competition in the restaurant industry, particulary on Founders, to not be at the top of your game at all times.

My husband attempted twice to eat here. Yes you read that right. Both times we weren't welcomed by any staff members. They were not busy, had 2 customers ahead of me. And we'd wait a good 10 minutes. Both times Wed walk out hungry. I'll go to Parker and have ribs at the Hickory House.

I'm a big fan of Dickey's BBQ and their turkey is fantastic. Before they built one in Castle Rock, I would regularly eat at the Dickey's off of Arapahoe. After a long day yesterday, I decided that instead of going out of my way to get to the Dickey's off of Arapahoe, I would try the Dickey's down in Castle Rock. Big mistake. As mentioned, I'm a big fan of the turkey. Guess what they had ran out of. Yup, you guessed it - the turkey. Fine, I enjoy some of Dickey's other offerings, so after waiting about 10 minutes (there was literally nobody else in the restaurant), I walked out with a to go box of their brisket. Upon arriving home to start eating said brisket, I open the box and realize this meat looks pretty dry. So, with a healthy dousing of BBQ sauce, I take my first bite. I nearly choked on the stuff it was so dry. I really cannot emphasize enough just how dry the stuff was. I've eaten beef jerky that was more tender than the brisket I got from Dickey's! Needless to say, I will never be back here.

Randomly stopped in here for a late dinner on a Tuesday night. Got a turkey sandwich, mac n cheese, fries and ice cream cone. I enjoyed all of it. It's a fun lil touch to get the free ice cream cone. I wanted to take home a plate for my husband and they were out of mac n cheese and potato casserole.

Well the good things to say will be short. TheGood: I am done and won't be back. Now the bad and ugly: I walk in at lunch and it's not very busy. 3 groups in front of me total of 10 people. It took 15-20 minutes to get to my order. The staff seemed very disorganized. There was very limited seating. So don't expect a seat. They did say that there is a plan to enclose the outdoor area but it wasn't done. The girl at the register was less then friendly. I finally get a seat and the area around the table and table it's self were filthy. The chairs move around like your on a cruise ship with 20ft waves. The pulled pork had way to much pepper on it as did the fries. I love pepper by the way.

Good food. Good service. I have never had a problem with them being out of food. My only real complaint is the lack of indoor seating. Kids eat free on Sunday's.

Great food, fresh and flavorful! I had a chopped beef sandwich on the softest bun with a blend of all three BBQ sauces, very good! Kids eat free on Sunday's and complimentary ice cream to top it all off! Glad to finally have good, affordable BBQ around now! The owner, Seth Warren was hands-on in the kitchen while I visited and chats with the customers to make sure everyone is satisfied. Great new place!

I left previous negative review via Yelp, and I received a response from Dickey's to contact them privately. After exhausting all efforts to determine how to contact them privately under Yelp (NO OPTION TO CONTACT PRIVATELY UNDER THEIR COMPANY LISTING). This still remains unresolved. Please provide private option to contact you to resolve this issue.

Not impressed. Used to frequent the one on Arapahoe, but this one came up short. Food wasn't great, service was mediocre, the drink machine wasn't fully working.... Just not good and definitely not worth the wait...

Busy and always good. Small place and parking is difficult sometimes. Normally a line at lunch. Outdoor patio is nice. Coke products and FREE soft serve.

Slow!!!! Half an hour late with my call ahead order, with no end in site. The family that walked in after me just left- it would have been faster to walk up and order. Not sure what the point of calling ahead is... I'll try it again when management takes a six-sigma class.

All the negative reviews almost made me avoid this place, but after experiencing it for myself I'm glad I did. Good food, friendly service and free ice cream?!?! Noon on a Friday and no lines. Those with a bad experience should give it another try. My only complaint is the country music, but I guess it adds to the ambiance.

We have always enjoyed the food and service here. Staff has always been friendly whether it is busy or quiet. There should be a 12 Step program for their brisket. The ice tea is always fresh and tastes like southerners brew it.

Love this place. Outstanding sliced brisket and their original BBQ sauce. Really, it's all good but the brisket is my favorite. Always friendly employees. The only downside I've seen is sometimes there's not enough tables.

Absolutely horrible. We came on a Sunday evening. We waited in line for over 20 minutes. There were only 5 people in front of us. Cashier didn't know how to make change or count. The meal was mediocre at best. First and last time I will go there. Two people walked out because of the speed of service. Doubt they will make it in castle Rock if they don't improve dramatically. Old west in town is far superior and locally owned.

Waited outside for 30 minutes. The line never moved more than 10 feet. Finally I gave up and left. Never was able to walk in the restaurant.

I was surprised to find such low ratings for this Dickey's when I looked it up. We went a couple weeks ago and I thought it was very good. The atmosphere was very welcoming, and it smelled like bbq and wood, very comfortable.

  • Kayla C.

Not good not good. If I could give zero stars I would. They never have the food we call to order. They are always out of something. The one time we could order what we wanted we didn't get what we wanted and what we did get was dry and gross. Other locations are great. Just no luck with this one.

If you live in Castle Rock and you are absolutely craving the worst BBQ you could ever eat, make sure you go to Dickey's. I only had the ribs, but they tasted like they had been dumped in a salt brine for a month; tasted like bad pastrami. Also, they were cold. Granted they replaced the cold ones with lukewarm ones, but those tasted worse. I won't be back.

Well, I was anxiously waiting on this restaurant to open since I'm familiar with the concept from having lived in TX. I even gave it a couple of weeks to get the "kinks" out before finally arriving for a much anticipated great experience. Well.....much to my disappointment, it was not a good experience. We arrived at 3:30 in the afternoon, hoping to avoid the evening rush. There were only 3 people in line ahead of us and it took forever to order. Very unorganized, not friendly or attentive and the restaurant was very dirty. The meat was good, the baked potato was hard and undercooked. Even the "free" ice cream was not good. Terrible flavor....threw it away. The potato salad was tasteless. They should have trained longer and made sure they knew what they were doing prior to opening for business. We will not be back......
